PSA’s Rotor Transition Program Takes Off
PSA recently launched its RTP program and announced its partnership with Skywarrior Inc. to bring former military helicopter pilots into commercial aviation to fly its aircraft. Many military pilots have the 750 hours of flight time required for a Restricted-Airline Transport Pilot (R-ATP) certification to pilot a commercial aircraft. But, many of these pilots are short on the requirement for 250 hours in command of a fixed wing aircraft, as well as a 25-hour requirement to fly a multi-engine aircraft.
PSA President Dion Flannery said this program would be a creative solution to help it bring in new talent as it seeks to hire another 1,000 employees, many of them pilots.
