PSA supports aviation opportunities at ECSU with new partnership and a $30,000 gift

ECSU Partnership

PSA Airlines will expand opportunities for aviation science students at Elizabeth City State University (ECSU) thanks to a new partnership and a $30,000 gift. The significant contribution will fund scholarships, student licensing and testing fees, and events. Along with the gift, the North Carolina historically Black institution (HBCU) will participate in PSA’s Cadet Program as an affiliate university.

Team members, including pilots and talent recruiters, presented the gift to ECSU’s Aviation Science Program in early March and held career pathway presentations for the school’s next generation of aviators.

One of the speakers was Captain Jonathan Boltz, a 2016 ECSU graduate and chair of PSA’s Inclusion Council. Boltz shared his enthusiasm for the Cadet program and its benefits for aspiring aviation students.

“This partnership is the start of a great opportunity for students to join a team where they can bring their passion to life.”

PSA Airlines’ Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, Steve Jarrett, said it is PSA’s honor to welcome ECSU to our growing pool of partnerships with HBCUs and Hispanic Serving Institutions (HSIs).

“At PSA, our commitment to Diversity and Inclusion helps us to create an environment that cares for our team members. We are confident that creating a pathway for students from underrepresented communities can help them to achieve their dream of a career in aviation.”

PSA currently has partnerships with almost a dozen HBCUs and HSIs and continuing to grow.
